Baepi Peak

Difficulty level: Difficult
Extensão da trilha: 3,6 km
Necessary time: 5 to 7 hours

The name Baepi has Tupi-Guarani origins and means bald mountain. The Pico do Baepi trail is inside the Ilhabela State Park, and is one of the most popular trails among ecotourists who enjoy more challenging hikes. Before the first kilometer, the trail has a beautiful viewpoint with a panoramic view of the São Sebastião Channel, from where you can see the Serra do Mar State Park, the municipalities of Ilhabela, São Sebastião and Caraguatatuba, as well as islands such as those in the Archipelago of Alcatrazes, protected by the Tupinambás Ecological Station.

The walk starts in an open area and soon enters the Atlantic Forest. The flora and fauna change depending on the altitude and climate of the environment, until reaching the peak, 1,048 meters high and offering a 360° view of the island. The trail crosses an area of great importance for conservation, as rare and fragile species live there. Help preserve it during your visit by practicing minimum impact principles. It is necessary to be accompanied by an accredited environmental monitor and it is not possible to carry out the visit on rainy days or rain the day before.

Para monitores credenciados, entrar em contato com o Parque Estadual de Ilhabela.
