Observatório de Turismo de Ilhabela

Ilhabela Tourism Observatory

ILHABELA CITY HALL

What is the Observatory?

Understading the importance of tourism as a highly profitable economic activity, the Secretariat of Economic Development and Tourism created the Ilhabela Tourism Observatory in association with CIET ((São Paulo State Tourism Economy Intelligence Center) and CLN ( North Coast Circuit).) e o CLN (Circuito Litoral Norte). The Tourism Observatory is a study and research core in Ilhabela that analyzes tourism behavior, helping to make the destination even better for its visitors and residents.

These informations will guide Ilhabela's action, promotion and planning strategies with regard to local and regional tourism. Due to the importance that society gives to tourism and the economic and environmental consequences, the tourism is now an industry and as such needs new technologies, modern management, research and evaluation instruments.

Some of the core’s responsibilities:

  • To monitor, to analyze and to understand, in light of national and regional reality, trends in tourist activity, developing new management strategies for the tourism sector.
  • To raise, analyze and understand, level of competitiveness of the tourism product, thus improving the standard of efficiency and effectiveness of the institutions involved.
  • Disseminate, using available mechanisms (publications, internet, etc.), studies and research of tourism development.
  • To promote innovative and creative initiatives, which can be adapted to the local reality.

The data collected by the observatory is updated periodically, so that current and reliable numbers are obtained in the construction and feeding of the “Tourism Sector Database”.
