Sailing

Yachting, also called sailing, is a sport involving boats, which are powered solely by sail propulsion. It can be practiced by both men and women.

The appropriate environment must be open and extensive, with the sea being one of the most appropriate and used environments. Competitions are classified according to the number of crew on the boat, the rigging and the number of sails used. Each “match” of this sport is called a regatta. At the end of each race, points are accumulated according to the boat's finishing position.

The team considered the winner is the one that, at the end of a series of regattas, manages to accumulate the lowest number of points. The international entity responsible for maintaining and monitoring issues related to this sport is ISAF, the International Yachting Federation. (Iatismo).
