There are approximately 300 meters of coastline, very popular due to the calm sea, soft sand and variety of restaurants and kiosks, which keep the region busy until the evening. Full of coconut trees, it also has a promenade with a bike path, a square with a playground for children and huge rocks that frame the scenery. The bottom of the sea is muddy and has some sediment, but the beach is good for canoeing, windsurfing and stand up paddleboarding.

O seu nome tupi significa “pedra grande”, provável referência à antiga pedra do mirante desta região ou o Pico do Baepi, com mais de mil metros de altitude e acesso à trilha partindo de lá. Oferece estacionamento público.
