Barra Velha Beach

It is the first beach that tourists see across when lands the ferry, next to the bus terminal. With a darker and narrow strip of sand, there are many colorful boats anchored and fishermen's things that guarantee some beautiful photos and a first walk or farewell to Ilhabela. This area has great biodiversity, the Ribeirão Água Branca, formed by waterfalls that descend from the interior of the island, reaches the sea at this beach, finding mangue vegetation, which is home to coastal and migratory birds.

At low tide, it is possible to see crabs and birds such as martim-pescador, batuíra-de-bando, maçarico-pintado, savacu-de-coroa, biguá e garças.

The cycle path that goes to the village begins there, with 6 km long, parallel to the coast
